Beneath the reserve is a romantic. Looks for one exceptional person to share everything with. Experiences things more deeply, sensitively, and intensely than they let on.
One-to-one Fives are romantics beneath their reserve. They look for one exceptional person they could share everything with: thoughts, feelings, secrets. With others they are reserved, but with this person they open up fully. This is the so-called countertype of the Fives: unlike the other two subtypes, they are closer to their emotions and desires and resemble the Four more. From the outside, though, this often isn't visible until you touch their romantic side.
They are more sensitive and intense than they let on. They have a rich inner world and a deep need for trust. A relationship is a test for them: when they can confide completely, it's the peak. When someone lets them down, they withdraw deeply and for a long time.

What the one-to-one instinct is
Attention turns to an intense connection with one person or one thing: chemistry, attraction, closeness, passion. People with this instinct in first place seek depth and intensity, can devote themselves fully to something, and get bored by superficial contact.
