Turns pain outward. Experiences things intensely, competes, and shows emotions in full. Demands attention and recognition, and can sweep people along, but also wear them out.
One-to-one Fours turn their pain outward. Instead of quietly feeling inferior, they compete, demand attention, and show what they feel. They are intense, passionate, compelling, and sometimes demanding on those around them.
Underneath is the same sense of lack as in other Fours, but they don't turn it against themselves; they turn it against the world. Their pain becomes anger and rivalry: when they beat the person who has more, they feel better. Of all the Fours, they are the angriest. They care less about whether people like them than about being the best. Outwardly they may seem confident, even arrogant, but inside they feel inferior. They want to be recognized, seen, and exceptional. When they feel overlooked, they can make it very clear. At the same time, they have enormous energy, creativity, and the courage to go after what they want.

What the one-to-one instinct is
Attention turns to an intense connection with one person or one thing: chemistry, attraction, closeness, passion. People with this instinct in first place seek depth and intensity, can devote themselves fully to something, and get bored by superficial contact.
