Strategy 6
Security-Minded Traditionalist
- Desire
- Security, support, and safety
- Fear
- Loss of support and guidance
How they're connected
Same strategy: you understand each other deeply, but you also share the same blind spots.
What draws them together
Sixes are constantly questioning and doubting inwardly. Others may see this as negativity, but for a Six there's a difference between negative and contrarian thinking. Two Sixes therefore often appreciate that their partner is willing to ask the hard questions. A thorough "but what if" removes the doubt and the couple can move on.
Contrarian thinking works like a seesaw: when one drops into fear, the other naturally rises to a more hopeful view. They don't have to convince each other that everything is fine; they just need to listen to each other closely.
Where they click
- Deep loyalty and faithfulness.
- Under pressure they stick together and are each other's strength.
- Both get involved in good causes and can fight for the underdog.

Where the friction is
- Worries can amplify each other into a catastrophe.
- Both distrust promises of a rosy future.
- The search for meaning and security can crowd out tenderness and adventure.

Working together
At work, Sixes can behave very differently. The cautious ones look for a strong protector; the bold ones come across as rebels who challenge leadership. They have one thing in common: a focus on authority.

The two of you, specifically
This is only a general description of the Six and Six pairing. The Couples Guide goes deeper: you both take the Quick Test, and the guide works with your subtypes. The self-preservation, social, and one-to-one versions of the same strategy behave completely differently in a relationship.
